Valentine Cuteness
Can you believe it's mid January? And... I've already been gifted with not one, but two bouts of the flu bug going around this winter season! Guess I wasn't in the population group for which the vaccine will work this year. Anyway, I'm feeling so much better now, but I haven't really thought much about Valentine's Day and it will be here before we know it! I have always loved Valentine's Day and as a child I especially enjoyed the school parties the room mothers planned for us on this special day. Everyone in our school carefully wrote out their Valentine cards to share, the moms planned games for us, and of course we snacked on specially prepared cupcakes and sweet candies during the party. My favorite was the box of conversation hearts!
Mom also dressed my siblings and myself in the appropriate holiday shirt for every occasion, and I too love dressing the kiddos in just the perfect outfit for all the Valentine festivities. Back then there weren't any cute Valentine shirts in the stores and of course shopping online was a thing of the future. So we made our own shirts! Mom would buy us a white short sleeve top and we would cut a heart shape from a sponge and dip it into poster paints and create our own design on the shirt. Valentine's Day is typically very cold in Saint Louis so to keep warm we would layer our newly created shirt over another long sleeve red tee. Unfortunately our carefully crafted masterpiece shirt was only a one time wear as the poster paint would bleed if washed. Now there are so many cute digitally printed shirts with eco-friendly inks and even sparkly vinyl glitter or foil and they are 100% washable! So if you are looking for a super adorable personalized shirt for your little Valentine you might want to check out the designs at Zoey's Attic Personalized Shirts & Gifts.
