Thanksgiving

The annual day of thanks is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November each year in the U.S. Other countries around the world also observe dates of thanks. Our Canadian neighbors celebrate Thanksgiving annually on the 2nd Monday of October. Thanksgiving in the West African nation of Liberia occurs on the first Thursday of November, and the Japanese celebrate Labor Thanksgiving Day each year on November 23rd. For me, Thanksgiving is the least stressful holiday of the year! There are no worries about dyeing eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt, no worries about completing all the Christmas shopping and wrapping all the presents, no worries about everything else that goes along with celebrating the other major holidays! It's easy to decorate the house with a few colorful autumn centerpieces and pumpkins, and then cook a delicious turkey dinner for family and friends! Preparations for Thanksgiving Day in the United States typically begin the evening before when the turkey stuffing is made along with a few side dishes and pumpkin pies that can be refrigerated and baked just prior to serving. When the actual day finally arrives it is an early rise with turkey roasting often beginning at daybreak. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is televised and watched by many people on Thanksgiving morning.  Some communities offer Thanksgiving day parades and attendance has become a tradition for many families.
